Bio:
Jamie Roxx started out in Detroit Michigan. He then studied and obtained a Masters Degree in (MFA) Fine Art Painting in Boston
After a Jack Kerouac-esque pursuit of painting subjects and life experience, Roxx found himself in many of America's famous cities, and spent a brief stint in New Orleans before settling down in San Diego. Roxx calls his style "Pop Noir" which he takes from his pop art, musical, artistic, and cinematic influences which inspire his work.
Roxx's painting subjects range from Classic Cinematic Icons and Movie Stars, Rock Stars and Cultural Icons to the commercial products of his world,. Roxx also takes inspiration in the emotions, character traits, and stories of those he surrounds himself with in the fast pace track which he not only works but has played in, during the over 2 decades he has been painting professionally.
Jamie Roxx's artwork is all one of a kind, and are original paintings. At first glance his work is often mistaken as screen prints, however, they are all painted by hand.
His main Artistic Statement is simple said by him:
"Whereas Warhol and the classic Pop Artists wanted to elevate the commonplace mechanically produced marketing images to the status of Art.
I reverse that and strive to make the human, hand-painted art to look mechanical.
I grew up in Metro Detroit, so I guess some of the factories and machine oil must have seeped into me lol"
His works display that razor sharp edge for which he is known in Private Collections, Art Galleries & Commercial Businesses around the world. Jamie has been a working, full-time professional artist since 2001.
He has created multiple CD covers for various rock bands and DJs. He has also had his work featured in various Music Videos and a Target Stores' Christmas television commercial. He also has had a painting appear on the breakout hit television show Will and Grace and other various Bravo and E Channel television shows.
In 2011 Jamie Roxx relocated to Southern Florida were he now lives and works.
In addition to being a full time, working artist, in 2013 Jamie launched his own digital radio talk show & podcast: The Pop Roxx Radio Talk Show. Where he interviews, Bands, Musicians, Authors, Filmmakers actors and Celebrities from all over the world several times a week.
Beginning in January of 2014 Jamie started working with several PR agencies and record labels for guest appearances on his show.
In February of 2015 Metal Babe Mayhem joined various other businesses an official sponsor of Pop Roxx Radio and submits monthly guests to the show. At the same time Jamie began working with various PR Agencies representing various Movie and Television Distribution agencies.
